Software Engineer - AI Agent Platform

We’re looking for a Backend Software Engineer to build and maintain the platform behind our AI agents.

In this role, your main focus is building and maintaining our AI agent platform, helping us move even faster on internal AI adoption. You’ll build internal products for engineers such as tooling, APIs, SDKs, integrations, and developer workflows. You’ll take them from design through to production and scaling, improving developer experience and driving real adoption across Spond’s engineering teams.

This role sits in our Platform Engineering & AI team, which owns Spond’s infrastructure and developer platform. You don’t need to be an infrastructure expert for this role. We care most about strong software engineering fundamentals and genuine motivation to build in the AI space and to work in a platform team. We collaborate closely inside the team, so you’ll naturally pick up our platform stack (Kubernetes on AWS, IaC, CI/CD) and pitch in where it helps, while your main focus stays on the AI agent platform and related tooling.

What you’ll be working on:

  • Building and maintaining the Go services, libraries, and tooling that let engineers across the company build with AI safely and consistently.
  • Developing agent-based tooling and workflows that drive AI adoption internally, for example cloud agents in developer workflows and automated root cause analysis.
  • Designing robust APIs and integrations between our agent platform, internal/external services, and model providers.
  • Ensuring the software you ship is observable, reliable, and well-tested, and taking it end-to-end from design to operation.
  • Contributing to the broader platform where it helps the team.
  • Collaborating with engineering teams to understand their needs, remove friction, and pave golden paths for how AI is used at Spond.
  • Advocating for good practice through clear documentation and knowledge sharing, so adoption sticks.

What we look for:

  • Backend expertise; at least 3 years of development experience is a useful reference, but we care more about how you’ve grown and how clearly you think than exact tenure.
  • Comfortable in at least one backend language and keen to work in Go, which we use for platform and agent tooling.
  • A solid grasp of how modern software is built and shipped: testing, code review, CI/CD, and the wider development lifecycle. This is what you’ll encode into agents and tooling.
  • A strong appetite to build in the AI and agent space. Experience with AI-powered tooling or building agents is a plus, but motivation and curiosity matter most.
  • Familiarity with AI guardrails and secure, responsible use of AI is a strong plus.
  • Keen to work in a platform team and upskill on our stack: Kubernetes, AWS, and infrastructure as code
  • Owns problems end-to-end and pushes them over the line without close oversight.
  • Clear communicator who enjoys documentation, advocacy, and knowledge sharing.
  • Fluency in English is essential (understanding Norwegian is a plus but not mandatory).

We know that no one can do everything. If you have solid backend experience and a drive to grow, we’d love to hear from you! Just register your interest in this form.
